Wallpaper

Most folks know that removing and properly hanging wallpaper can be a bit challenging. At TWIN Painters & TWIN HOME SERVICE, we have a system in place for both. First, let’s talk about removal. Removing wallpaper can be a messy undertaking, and that is why we take that extra step to care for the space in which we are working. All floors are properly covered because with wallpaper removal, there is water, and we want to keep the floors dry. Once removed, there is the cleanup phase in which we prepare the walls for either paint or new paper. For painting, after the paper has been removed and, in most cases, from a sheetrock wall, we prime the walls with Aqua Lock. Even the best-washed walls always have a slight residue of glue and paste, along with nicks in the sheetrock. This process gets the walls ready for skim coating and other wall preparation, such as nail pops and cracks, if necessary. We then prime all the skim coating with Benjamin Moore Latex Primer. We check it over and apply a second coat of primer. Lastly, we finish it off with two coats of the Benjamin Moore product that we have discussed, along with your new color choice. For plaster walls, there are no nail pops, but the steps are the same.

When it comes to hanging new wall coverings, the steps are the same. However, instead of finish paint, we use a product called Shields. This product allows the paperhanger ease of installation, and when it’s time to remove the paper, it is far easier. Twin Painters offers all painting services, including power sanding.
